What does supply and fit mean?
Supply and fit combines a compatible engine with the labour and workshop work needed to remove the failed unit and fit the replacement. The exact quotation can also include recovery, fluids, filters, testing and approved ancillary work. Because workshop specifications differ, the written quotation—not the page label—determines what is included.
Engines Available for a Fitted Job
| Reconditioned | For customers prioritising a prepared replacement and longer qualifying cover. |
|---|---|
| Exchange | For suitable applications where compatible stock and return-core terms can shorten waiting time. |
| Used | For customers controlling initial cost where a correctly identified, inspected unit with suitable written cover is available. If inspection shows the original engine is rebuildable, the workshop may recommend rebuilding it rather than fitting another unit. |
A Proper Fitted Quote Should Be Clear
Before authorisation, ask the workshop to state: Clear scope protects both the customer and workshop. It also makes competing quotations easier to compare on total value rather than headline price.
exact engine option and identification
parts and labour included
whether VAT, recovery and return are included
which ancillaries will be reused, checked or replaced
how the original failure cause will be addressed
expected completion window
warranty provider, duration and conditions
how additional findings will be approved
Non-Runner Collection Available Nationwide
If the Relay cannot be driven, collection can be coordinated from mainland UK to an appropriate partner workshop. Recovery cost and timing depend on vehicle location, accessibility, transporter availability and destination. Provide the postcode, vehicle body type, approximate weight or conversion details and whether the van can roll and steer so the correct transport can be arranged.
Supply-and-Fit Process
Workshop matched and initial route discussed.
Recovery or delivery to workshop arranged.
Diagnosis and compatibility confirmed.
Written quotation and warranty terms accepted.
Engine supplied, fitted and supporting systems checked.
Collection or return arranged with job documentation.
How Long Does Supply and Fit Take?
Many eligible jobs are completed within up to five working days from the van arriving at the appointed workshop. Availability of the correct engine, the condition of supporting systems and additional faults can affect the schedule. Ask the workshop whether its estimate includes diagnosis, parts ordering, fitting, testing and return transport.
Written Cover Before Booking
The workshop provides the warranty. Qualifying reconditioned engines may have up to three years’ unlimited-mileage cover; qualifying used engines may have up to six months’ unlimited-mileage cover. Ask for the full terms, servicing obligations and claims procedure before authorising the job.
