Engines and Compatibility
Which Relay engines do you cover?
UK diesel Citroen Relay variants from 2015 onward, including 2.2 HDi, 2.0 BlueHDi and 2.2 BlueHDi families subject to vehicle-specific checks.
Do you cover petrol or electric models?
No. Petrol engines and electric ë-Relay powertrains are outside the service scope.
Is the registration enough to order an engine?
It begins identification, but the supplier may also need Reg no., engine code, output, production information or photographs.
Do L2H2 and L3H2 vans use different engines?
Those labels describe body length and roof height. Engine matching still depends on the vehicle and engine specification.
Rebuild, Recon, Exchange and Used
Should I rebuild or replace the engine?
That depends on the original engine’s condition, failure cause, total cost, available replacements and downtime.
What is a reconditioned engine?
A used core prepared to a workshop-defined specification. Ask what was inspected, machined, renewed, reused and tested.
What is an exchange engine?
A replacement supplied on terms that normally require the failed engine to be returned, sometimes with a core surcharge.
Is a used engine a sensible option?
It can be where identity, condition information, total fitted cost and written cover suit the van and budget.
Cost and Turnaround
How much does replacement cost?
Cost depends on engine family, damage, replacement route, labour, ancillaries, recovery, availability and warranty. Request an itemised job quotation.
How long does the work take?
Many eligible jobs are completed within up to five working days from workshop arrival, subject to diagnosis, authorisation, parts, machining and additional work.
Is recovery included in the price?
Only when the workshop quotation expressly includes collection or return.
Is VAT included?
Check the individual quotation; it should state the VAT position clearly.
Warranty
What warranty is available?
Qualifying reconditioned engines may have up to three years’ unlimited-mileage cover; qualifying used engines may have up to six months. The workshop confirms the actual terms.
Who provides the warranty?
The independent workshop or supplier named in your contract.
Does unlimited mileage remove servicing requirements?
No. The written warranty may require servicing, checks and supporting-system work.
What should I do if a fault appears?
Stop where further use may cause damage and contact the warranty provider promptly before authorising third-party dismantling, subject to safety and the written terms.
